Whoever swears by other than Allah (God)

June 6, 2012

Ibn Umar – radiallahu anhu – heard a man swearing by the Ka’bah so he said to him,

‘Indeed I heard the Messenger of Allah – sallallahu alayhe wa sallam – saying:

‘Whoever swears by other than Allah (God) has indeed committed polytheism’

Shaikh Albaanee declared it Saheeh in Saheeh Abee Dawood

A people don’t sit in a gathering remembering Allah…

June 6, 2012

It is narrated from Sahl bin al-Hanthaliyah that the Prophet – sallallahu alayhe wa sallam – said:

A people don’t sit in a gathering remembering Allah, Exalted and Lofty is He, in it

And then get up (to leave) so it is said to them: Get up!

Indeed Allah has forgiven you

Whoever Removes a Hardship from a Believer…

June 3, 2012

Abu Huraira – radiallahu anhu – narrated that the Prophet Muhammad – sallallahu alayhe wa sallam – said:

Whoever removes from a Believer a hardship from the hardships of this life (the dunya),

Allah (God) will remove from him a hardship from the hardships of the Day of Judgment

And whoever makes a difficult affair easy, Allah will make things easy for him in this life and the Hereafter

And whoever covers a Muslim, Allah will cover him in this life and the Hereafter

And Allah comes to the help of His servant as long as (or as much as) the servant comes to the help of his brother

And whoever treads a path seeking (Islamic) knowledge

Allah will make easy for him by way of it a path to Paradise

And a group of people don’t gather in one of the houses of Allah

Reciting the Book of Allah

And studying it amongst themselves

Except that tranquility descends upon them

And mercy covers them

And the angels surround them

And Allah mentions them to those with Him

And whoever is slowed down by his deeds

His lineage won’t speed him up

A person does not fill a container worse than his stomache…

October 16, 2011

The Prophet Muhammad
(sallallahu alayhe wa sallam) said:

A person does not fill a
container worse than his stomache

A few bites suffice the
son of Adam to strengthen his back (or keep himself fit)

But if he must eat more

Then a third of the
stomach should be for his food

And a third for his drink

And a third for his breathing

Imam at Tirmidhee
collected it in his Sunan at Tirmidhi and said it was Hasan Saheeh.
Shaikh Albanee collected it in Irwaa al Ghaleel (

Spend, O son of Adam!

October 14, 2011

Abu Hurairah narrated that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhe wa sallam) said that Allah said:

“Spend O son of Adam, and I will spend on you”

Saheeh Muslim, Book of Zakat

“…God erases the sins with them”

June 27, 2011

The Prophet (sallallahu alayhe wa sallam) said: “Do you think, if there were a river in front of the door of one of you (i.e. in front of his house), and he bathed in it five times every day, that there would remain any dirt on him?”

The Companions replied: “There would not remain any dirt on him.”

The Prophet (sallallahu alayhe wa sallam) said: “That is the example of the five obligatory prayers, God erases the sins with them.”

Let not a (male) believer hate a (female) believer…

June 26, 2011

And in the statement of the Prophet (sallallahu alayhe wa sallam) –

‘Let not a (male) believer hate a (female) believer, if he dislikes one of her characteristics, he is pleased with another characteristic.’ (Saheeh Muslim)

– there are two tremendous benefits.

One of them is: guidance in how to treat the wife, the relative, the companion, the one you have dealings with, and whoever you have a connection with or a relationship to. And it is befitting that you accustom yourself to the fact that in him (or her) there will be a flaw, deficiency, or something you dislike. So when you find that, then join between this and between that which is obligatory upon you or befitting for you based on the strength of the relationship and the preservation of the love by remembering what he (or she) has of good qualities…In this is overlooking the shortcomings and noticing the good qualities, which causes the companionship and relationship to continue and achieves ease for you.”

When a judge (or scholar) judges, striving hard to reach the correct conclusion…

April 17, 2011

The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhe wa sallam) said (translated):

When a judge (or scholar) judges, striving hard to reach the correct conclusion and then he is right (he arrives at the correct conclusion based on the Quran and Sunnah on the understanding of the Salaf), then he gets two rewards. And when he judges, striving hard to reach the correct conclusion and then he is wrong, then he gets one reward.”

Saheeh Bukhari, Book of Holding Fast to the Book and the Sunnah, narrated by ‘Amr bin al ‘As

Find a hadeeth:

Shaikh Bin Baz said1 (translated):

Everything which is known in the religion by the legislated, clear proof from the Qur’an and Sunnah or consensus of the Salaf2 of the Ummah, then there is no place for ijtihaad in this area. Rather, what is obligatory is having faith in it (whatever is known by the legislated, clear proof), working by it, and rejecting what opposes it by the consensus of the Muslims (who have hearts and minds unadulterated by shirk or bid’ah). There is no difference of opinion amongst the people of knowledge regarding this tremendous principle (which was just mentioned). Ijtihaad is only for the issues of differing in which there is no clear proof for it from the Book and the Sunnah. So whoever is correct, he has two rewards, and whoever errs, he has one reward when he is from the people of knowledge who are qualified for ijtihaad…”

1This was in response to a question. Reference is

2Those who came after the Prophet – sallallahu alayhe wa sallam – and his Companions who followed (and continue to follow) them exactly in beliefs, speech and actions. Allah, The Most High, tells us:

And the first to embrace Islâm of the Muhâjirûn (those who migrated from Makkah to Al-Madinah) and the Ansâr (the citizens of Al-Madinah who helped and gave aid to the Muhâjirûn) and also those who followed them exactly (in Faith). Allâh is well-pleased with them as they are well-pleased with Him. He has prepared for them Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise), to dwell therein forever. That is the supreme success. Indeed the Scholars are the Inheritors of the Prophets

December 26, 2010

The Prophet (sallallahu alayhe wa sallam) said:

Whoever treads a path seeking knowledge, Allah will make him tread a path to Paradise”

And indeed the angels certainly spread their wings for the seeker (or student) of knowledge, pleased (with what he is doing)

And indeed whoever is in the samawaat (sky, space, beyond) and whoever is on the earth – until even the fish in the water – certainly seek forgiveness for the Scholar

And the superiority of the Scholar over the worshiper is like the superiority of the moon over the rest of the stars

Indeed the Scholars are the Inheritors of the Prophets

Indeed the Prophets do not leave behind money (deenars or dirhams) as an inheritance

The only thing they leave behind as an inheritance is knowledge

So whoever takes from it (the knowledge) has indeed taken an abundant share
