Indeed this is a beautiful opportunity to take benefit from our òShaykh, òShaykh Aboo Muhammad Ahmad as-Subay’ee, whom òash-Shaykh Rabee’ – ÍÝÙå Çááå – said is the best of those in Kuwait.  And we have heard this via several brothers who have heard the òShaykh praise òShaykh Ahmad in this way, æ ÇáÍãÏ ááå.

Here is a brief bio that we were able to put together on the òShaykh.

His Mashayikh:

From amongst the Mashayikh that he studied with, visited and took benefit from are:

  • al-Imaam, ash-Shaykh ‘Abdul-‘Azeez bin ‘Abdillaah bin Baaz ÑÍãå Çááå
  • al-Imaam, ash-Shaykh Muhammad bin Saalih al-‘Uthaymeen ÑÍãå Çááå
  • ash-Shaykh, al-‘Allaamah Muhammad Amaan al-Jaamee ÑÍãå Çááå
  • The scholar of Hadeeth, ash-Shaykh Hammaad al-Ansaaree  ÑÍãå Çááå
  • ash-Shaykh, al-‘Allaamah Rabee’ bin Haadee al-Madkhalee
  • ash-Shaykh Taariq as-Subay’ee (òShaykh Ahmad’s older brother and a student of Shaykh ‘Abdul-‘Azeez and others)

òShaykh Ahmad was the first person to go to al-Imaam al-Albaanee ÑÍãå Çááå with the affair of ‘Abdur-Rahmaan bin ‘Abdul-Khaaliq, and used to travel to sit with the òShaykh ÑÍãå Çááå and ask him questions and take benefit from the Shaykh (along with òShaykh Taariq and òShaykh Muhammad al-‘Anjaree), and he was also the first to call Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen ÑÍãå Çááå regarding Saddaam’s invasion of Kuwait for advice and direction, as the Shaykh himself told Shaykh Ahmad.

His Students:

The most well-known of his students and those whom the òShaykh himself recommends to take benefit from are our òShaykh, Aboo ‘Uthmaan Muhammad  al-‘Anjaree and Aboo ‘Abdir-Rahmaan Zayd bin Hulays ad-Dawsaree.

His Da’wah:

The òShaykh – ÍÝÙå Çááå – continues to strive in clarifying the manhaj of the Salaf in Kuwait through his hi-powered, beneficial lessons, his articles, and his general sittings, which are always full of clarity and benefit, may Allaah reward him.  The way in which the òShaykh approaches issues is something that is rarely seen, bringing angles that give one a more complete way of understanding that particular affair.

òShaykh Ahmad is known for his defense of the Salafees and the Salafee Da’wah, and his firmness with the people of innovation and the jamaa’aat as-siyaasiyyah.
It was our òShaykh who was from the first in Kuwait to seek guidance from the ‘Ulamaa’ regarding ‘Abdur-Rahmaan ‘Abdul-Khaaliq and his Jam’iyyah Ihyaa’ at-Turaath and warn against it’s callers, such as Ahmad Baaqir, Naadhim Sultaan al-Misbaah and others and advising the youth of Turaath regarding them, and inviting them to the correct manhaj. It was òShaykh Ahmad who warned the Salafee youth of Kuwait  from sitting with ‘Abdullaah al-Ghunaymaan, detailing his open defense of Tableegh and Ikhwaan, takfeer, and  al-Ghunaymaan’s categorizing Tawheed al-haakimiyyah as a fourth, independent category. [1]
He is also well-known for his defense of our Salafee Mashayikh and his praise of them
(here is an example of that), even while clarifying an error that one of them may have fell into or expressing disagreement with an opinion that one of them may have held.  But, as we have seen first hand and Allaah knows best,  his love for them doesn’t stop him from clarifying the Haqq, nor does clarifying the Haqq take away from his respect for them æ ÇáÍãÏ ááå.

He is just as known for his beautiful manners and wisdom with the people as he is for his toughness and clarity in dealing with the people of innovation and the jamaa’aat, often supplicating under his breath for a person at length upon meeting them or after having answered their question.  We have heard òShaykh Muhammad al-‘Anjaree say that “the Khaleej has not seen the likes of òShaykh Ahmad as-Subay’ee.”  After a sitting with the òShaykh, one can see clearly what òShaykh al-‘Anjaree meant, Åä ÔÇÁ Çááå!

On behalf of the brothers here in Kuwait, we highly encourage the brothers to take advantage of this opportunity.  The òShaykh is not known for traveling much and it was only personal business that compelled him to visit the UK, so an opportunity such as this may not present itself again. And Allaah knows best.

May Allaah reward our òShaykh – ÍÝÙå Çááå – with good in this life and in the Hereafter and allow us and our brothers and sisters in the UK to benefit from his knowledge and his clarity.
Aameen.

[1] Al-Ghunaymaan’s tapes in which he makes takfeer of those who vote in elections, those who run for election as well as those who support their campaigns were widespread (and we have heard him with our own ears) by the takfeeree groups in the masaajid here in Kuwait in the run up to the elections held 5 years ago.  Along with that, he opposes the madhhab of Ahlus-Sunnah regarding the Ashaa’irah and Maaturidiyyah and says that they are from Ahlus-Sunnah and not from the 72 astray sects(!!) and that what they negate of the Sifaat of Allaah is from their ijtihaad. He calls to “jihaad” against the Americans in ‘Iraaq and Afghanistan and says whoever aids them is “a kaafir, outside the Islaamic religion.”

òOur òshaykh, òShaykh Ahmad said:

quote:

“So it is obligatory upon the one who ascribes himself to the Sunnah – a certain, clear, manifest, shar’ee obligation for everyone whom Allaah (‘Azza wa Jal) has opened up his chest to the madhhab of Ahlul-Hadeeth and to the Book and the Sunnah, to stand with the clear, sincere, shar’ee position from their brothers in clarifying the condition of shaykh ‘Abdullaah al-Ghunaymaan, until the youth are not tempted by him nor those like him from those who have rendered their knowledge a service to the people of these politically-based desires (ahwaa’ as-siyaasiyyah).”
