|
From the hadeeth of ‘Aishah – may Allaahu be pleased with her |
And there is a story (connected to this hadeeth) |
It is that Mu’aawiyah – (we ask that) Allaah be pleased with him |
When he became king |
He wrote to the Mother of the Believers (i.e. ‘Aishah) |
Seeking her advice |
Because she was the wife of the Messenger of Allaah |
peace and blessings be upon him |
And she had an abundant amount of knowledge |
Which she had taken from the Messenger of Allaah |
peace and blessungs be upon him |
She was a Scholar (Faqeehah) from amongst the women |
She wrote to him (in reply): |
“Assalamu alaikum. As for what follows: |
I heard the Messenger of Allaah – sallallaahu alayhe wa sallam – say, |
‘Whoever seeks the Pleasure of Allaah by displeasing the people |
Allaah will be pleased with him and make the people be pleased with him. |
And whoever seeks to please the people by displeasing Allaah |
Allaah will be displeased with him |
and will make the people be displeased with him.’”2 |
